It’s Never Too Late to Celebrate

After Hurricane Irma hit Sunday, September the 10th, Naples didn’t have power for a week. Not only that, but there was debris everywhere, barely any gas at gas stations, and there was about no businesses that we’re open. My birthday was three days after the hurricane and I was hoping with all my heart that I could do something fun for it.

Before this hurricane was threatening to strike my city and state, I had this fun week planned for my birthday. I was going to spend every day doing something different with friends and family. Even though that didn’t happen, I was truly blessed that nobody and nothing was destroyed through the process of Irma. I was counting my blessings all week and thanking God that my family, my home, my friends, my school, and city was safe. On my birthday, my family made sure I had the best day possible. We spent the whole day together and they were determined to find me a birthday cake all day. Thankfully we found one at Publix and got to celebrate the right way. I appreciate everything my parents and my brother did for me on that day and all my many friends who wished me a happy birthday. It made my day extra special.

When I finally got to go back to school I was ecstatic! I got to see all my friends and celebrate the right way. All my friends put in the greatest effort to make my birthday last another week. A few groups of friends even took me out to eat. I went to P.F. Chang’s and Bravo! It was delicious and a great time to catch up with friends. It may not have been what I planned, but the results were better than what I could’ve asked for. I’m so fortunate to have friends and family that care so much about my happiness and to ensure my day wouldn’t be ruin by a hurricane named Irma.
